Biography

Pauline Giddings

Reader and Children's Ministry Leader

Pauline qualified as a nurse at Scarborough hospital in 1980 and started worshipping at St. Mark’s church at the same time.  She married James at St. Mark’s in 1981, and they have 3 grown up children and 4 grandchildren.

Pauline ran St. Mark’s Guides unit for 30 years but early in 2022 retired from Girlguiding after 38 years’ service and nursing after 45 years.

She helps to run the weekly home discussion group with Hazel and is on the ‘Ladies Together’ committee that meets every other month. She is also responsible for St. Mark’s Facebook page.

Pauline felt that God was calling her to lay ministry back in 2017, so she trained as a Reader at York School of Ministry and was licensed in October 2021 at York Minster.

Recently she has felt called by God to start the Children’s Ministry again at St. Mark’s and so has recruited a wonderful team of people who are full of enthusiasm to work with her to welcome young people to St. Mark’s following the pandemic.
